What Does Restylane Do?

Restylane is a line of hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers that can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and smile lines, and add volume to the face. It works by replacing lost volume beneath the skin and attracting water, which helps preserve results long-term. Restylane is designed to act like the HA that the body produces naturally.

How Fast Does Restylane Work?

Restylane is a dermal filler that starts working immediately after injection. You can expect to see improvements as soon as you leave your appointment, and the results will continue to improve over the following day. However, it can take about a week for the hyaluronic acid in the filler to integrate into the skin tissue, and you may not see your optimal results for roughly one month after treatment. The final results of your treatment will become apparent about four to six weeks after your treatment.

How Long Does Restylane Last?

Restylane fillers can last six to eighteen months, depending on the formula and the area of the face. For example, Restylane Lyft lasts 9 to 18 months, while Restylane Defyne lasts 6 to 9 months. More flexible fillers in high-motion areas like the lips tend to fade faster than more dense fillers in other areas.

How Do I Prepare for Restylane?

Schedule in Advance
It is recommended you make your Botox treatments as least two weeks in advance of any special events to ensure the best possible result.
Avoid Alcohol and Caffeine
You’ll be asked to avoid alcohol and caffeine at least 48 hours prior to treatment to avoid increased bruising or bleeding.
2 Weeks Post Chemical Peels
You’ll be asked to confirm it has been at least 2 weeks since your last facial or peel.
Avoid NSAIDs
Avoid medications: Stop taking blood thinners, aspirin, ibuprofen, and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) at least two days before your appointment.

What is the Aftercare for Restylane?

Avoid Laying Down
You should avoid laying down or bending over for the first few hours after receiving Botox. This can cause treatment to shift from its direct/specific placement.
Avoid Exercise
Avoid any strenuous exercise, and manipulation of the area several hours post treatment.
Maintain Treatment
Regular treatment is necessary to maintain results, optimally done prior to the Botox wearing off.
